The Corridor of Fame pronounces its 2023 poll

Monday, Baseball’s Corridor of Fame introduced its Corridor of Fame poll that will likely be voted on by members of the Baseball Writers Affiliation of America.

Fourteen new gamers will likely be on the poll this 12 months: Bronson Arroyo, Carlos Beltrán, Matt Cain, R.A. Dickey, Jacoby Ellsbury, Andre Ethier, J.J. Hardy, John Lackey, Mike Napoli, Jhonny Peralta, Francisco Rodríguez, Huston Road, Jered Weaver and Jayson Werth.

With the attainable exception of Carlos Beltrán, I don’t see anybody in that listing who is likely to be inducted in 2023. Whereas Beltran’s career numbers make him a robust candidate, his affiliation with the Astros dishonest scandal may make voters assume twice.

Returning to the poll in 2023: Bobby Abreu, Mark Buehrle, Todd Helton, Torii Hunter, Andruw Jones, Jeff Kent, Andy Pettitte, Manny Ramirez, Alex Rodriguez, Scott Rolen, Jimmy Rollins, Gary Sheffield, Omar Vizquel and Billy Wagner.

Of the returning gamers, Helton and Rolen have an honest case, as does Wagner.
